Hi, my name is Jo.
For as long as I can remember, we have always had an animal of some description around the house.
One of our first dogs was a Standard Dachshund, and then progressing to Dobermann’s where our family set up ‘Falken’ kennels.
For my twelfth birthday, I received my first Afghan. Following the old Ghazni lines back in the late 70’s, I worked hard to complete his championship title, remembering that those were the days when there were 60+ Affies entered at any one time. Over the following years, I continued on with my love of Afghans (with many specialty and all breeds best in show and age group in show awards) and to this day I am still currently showing afghans with my young girl “Breeze”, Ch. Juwain Summer Breeze.
In 2004, I began looking for another breed. At one of the shows, I met up with Sue Blair (whom I had known for many years) and next thing I knew; I had my first Shih Tzu, “Chelsea”, Ch. Celerity Dreaming of Magic; what a wonderful introduction to the breed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sue Blair not only for this wonderful girl but also for her continued support and mentorship in this breed.
Chelsea has been a great ambassador for the breed and with her wonderful qualities such as her exquisite head, superb front, strong top line and movement; Sue and I were keen to see what Chelsea could contribute to the breed. As my foundation bitch for the Shihghan Kennel, in 2008 Chelsea produced three lovely babies. Sue and I are currently campaigning two of these babies, Abbie and Chance who are at this stage very promising.
My father Bill and I are also involved in the judging of dogs. Whilst I am licensed to judge at open show level, Bill is licensed to judge: Gundogs, Working dogs, Utility and Non Sporting at Championship level.
We look forward to you browsing through this web site and welcome your comments.
